equal length steering cross rods mounted parallel to the<br />

lower forked arms of the Knee Action assembly. Each<br />

cross rod operates a front wheel.<br />

A drag link controls the two cross rods at the center,<br />

hence the name "<strong>Center</strong> Point." This drag link is cross<br />

mounted on LaSalle and <strong>Cadillac</strong> Sixty, and longitudinally<br />

mounted on the V-8 and Fleetwood. The latter<br />

method provides the larger <strong>Cadillac</strong>s with steering ease<br />

equivalent to that of the smaller models. Steering<br />

knuckle thrust is taken through ball bearings.<br />

The drag link is operated by a roller shaft extending<br />

from the bottom of the steering gear housing. An eccentric<br />

bushing around this shaft facilitates steering gear<br />

adjustment. All models use the sturdy worm and double<br />

V-8 and Fleetwood <strong>Center</strong> Point Steering<br />

roller type of gear mechanism. This is straddle mounted<br />

to provide rigidity and to maintain correct roller and<br />

tooth contacts at all times.<br />

The Fleetwood steering gear housing is now mounted<br />
