ACTION PLAN
An action plan is a detailed sequence of activities that will be performed to implement the identified
strategies focused on indicators of implementation and student centered desired outcomes.
The Action Plan section of the template is comprised of the following components:
• Activities (Responsible Person, Start Date, Completion Date, Estimated Cost, Funding Source,
Procedures for Evaluating Indicators of Implementation)
• Implementation Issue(s) (Date Presented)
• Resolution(s) (Date Resolved)
• Louisiana Measure of Progress (LAMP)
CHARACTERISTICS OF AN EFFECTIVE ACTION PLAN
• Links clearly to identified research‐based strategies.
• Provides a logical sequence of activities.
• Presents how each activity will be performed.
• Identifies who will be responsible for each activity.
• Provides a responsible person, start date, completion date, estimated cost, and funding source,
procedures for evaluating indicators of implementation for each activity.
• Identifies implementation issues and documents the resolution of those issues.
• Provides procedures for frequent measuring of desired outcomes.
Activities
Activities are different from strategies. Strategies are “how” the objectives will be achieved; activities
are “what” specifically will be done to effectively implement the strategy. Activities include action steps
that will result in student‐centered desired outcomes.
Examples:
• The curriculum facilitator will provide bi‐weekly grade‐specific professional learning
opportunities for all teachers and administrators to ensure effective implementation of
literacy strategies. (Professional Development Activity)
STEPS TO TAKE
Activities
• All teachers will teach literacy strategies in accordance with the Louisiana
Comprehension Curriculum (LCC) daily to increase student knowledge and skill in
comprehending text. (Instructional Activity)
1. Include in the Action Plan activities related to professional development, implementation, family and
community involvement, and transition.
2. Ensure that implementation of Action Plan activities occurs in a logical, sequential order.
3. Establish a logical sequence for professional development activities denoting initial,
job‐embedded, follow‐up, feedback and support.
4. Identify the indicators of implementation for the selected research‐based strategy from the Best Practices.
