STEPS TO TAKE
Professional Development
The administration should:
1. Conduct individual teacher self‐assessment surveys based on GLEs or units.
2. Conduct individual teacher self‐assessment surveys based on the design and implementation of
instruction for diverse learners (i.e., accommodations, modifications, compacting, tiered instruction,
differentiation, collaboration, co‐teaching).
3. Determine Professional Development based on the results of the Needs Assessment/teacher
surveys, analysis of unit assessments and state assessments, and classroom observations.
4. Provide Professional Development opportunities that will meet the identified needs.
5. Include activities on the Action Plan page.
Leadership
The administration, the SIT, and other teacher leaders should:
1. Ensure all teachers are provided Professional Development on GLEs and curriculum.
2. Provide time, structure, and resources for faculty and staff to collaboratively plan for, implement,
and evaluate the taught curriculum.
3. Decide who is to do the curriculum monitoring at the school.
4. Analyze informal and formal assessments and the results of classroom visits for the purpose of
providing feedback for teachers.
5. Ensure general and Special Education representatives across content areas and grade levels are
involved in the writing and implementation of the curriculum component.
6. Schedule periodic whole faculty reviews of the curriculum component.
7. Communicate recommendations for curriculum improvement to district staff.
8. Include these activities on the Action Plan page.
