Naval Special Warfare Command (NSWC) is organised<br />

around eight SEAL Teams and two SEAL Delivery Vehicle<br />

(SDV) Teams. These components deploy SEAL<br />

Teams, SEAL Delivery Vehicle Teams, and Special Boat<br />

Teams worldwide to meet the training, exercise, contingency<br />

and wartime requirements of theatre commanders.<br />

Operationally up to two of the eight SEAL Teams are<br />

deployed at any given time.<br />

Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC) is a<br />

component of USSOCOM and consists of four subordinate<br />

units: the 1 st and 2 nd Marine Special Operations Battalions;<br />

the Marine Special Operations Advisory Group;<br />

and the Marine Special Operations Support Group. MAR-<br />

SOC Headquarters, the 2 nd Marine Special Operations<br />

Battalion, the Marine Special Operations School, and the<br />

North America<br />

Marine Special Operations Support Group are stationed<br />

at Camp Lejeune, NC. The 1 st Marine Special Operations<br />

Battalion is stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA.<br />

US Air Force<br />

FORCES BY ROLE<br />

Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC)<br />

includes about 13,000 active and reserve personnel.<br />

AFSOC is headquartered at Hurlburt Field, FL, along with<br />

the 720th Special Tactics Group, the 1st Special Operations<br />

Wing (SOW) and the USAF Special Operations School<br />

and Training Center. 27th SOW is located at Cannon<br />

Air Force Base, NM. 352nd Special Operations Group is<br />

at RAF Mildenhall, UK, and 353rd Special Operations<br />

Group, is at Kadena Air Base, Japan. Reserve AFSOC<br />

components include the 193rd SOW, ANG, stationed at<br />

Harrisburg, PA and the 919th Special Operations Wing,<br />

AFR, stationed at Duke Field, FL. AFSOC’s three activeduty<br />

flying units have more than 100 fixed and rotarywing<br />

aircraft. AFSOC plans to procure 50 CV-22s by<br />

2017, and would like to increase its MC-130 fleet to 61<br />

aircraft to accommodate the growth of army and marine<br />

corps special operations forces.<br />
