29-2.B.30. CURB LEVEL: The permanently established grade of a street at the edge of pavement or at thebase of the curb, in front of a lot.31. DECIBEL: A unit of measurement of intensity of sound (the sound pressure level).32. DECK: A porch-like structure or portion of a structure, usually constructed of wood, with structuralsupports.33. DEPOSIT: For the purpose of these Regulations with respect to the movement of earth material,shall include, but shall not be limited to, fill, grade, dump, place, discharge or emit.34. DESIGNATED AQUIFER: A geologic unit capable of yielding usable amounts of water anddesignated on a map entitled "Wilton Planning and Zoning Commission Aquifer Map."35. DEVELOPMENT*: Any man-made change to improved or unimproved real estate, including butnot limited to buildings or other structures, mining, dredging, filling, grading, paving, excavation ordrilling operations or storage of equipment or materials.*36. DIRECT RECHARGE: The process by which precipitation replenishes a stratified-drift aquifer bynatural infiltration through the unsaturated zone to the water table.37. DRAINAGE: The controlled removal of surface water or groundwater from land by drains, gradingor other means which include runoff controls to minimize erosion and sedimentation during andafter construction or development, to maximize groundwater recharge, and to prevent or alleviateflooding.38. DUST: Solid particulate matter capable of being air or gas borne.39. DWELLING: A building designed or used exclusively as living quarters for one or more families.The term shall not be deemed to include automobile courts, motels, hotels, rooming houses,boarding houses, camping trailers, mobile home trailers, tourist homes or tents.40. DWELLING, ATTACHED: A building containing two or more dwelling units attached to each otherby continuous vertical party walls, without openings except for utilities, which walls extend frombasement or cellar to roof.41. DWELLING, DETACHED: A dwelling surrounded on all sides by yards and which does not haveany roof, wall or floor in common with any other dwelling unit.42. DWELLING, MULTI-FAMILY: A building containing two or more dwelling units, but excludingdwellings with accessory dwelling units.43. DWELLING, SINGLE-FAMILY: A dwelling containing one dwelling unit only.44. DWELLING UNIT, ACCESSORY*: A separate dwelling unit, whether or not it contains cookingfacilities, which is in conjunction with, and accessory to, a single-family dwelling, including but notlimited to, an in-law apartment, a guest cottage, a studio, or a cabana.7
