Some crawlers utilize tracks, and others use wheels. Thetransport vehicle and camera are commonly referred to as a camera-crawler(figure 129). An operator remotely controls both the transport vehicle and camera.The camera can provide both longitudinal and circumferential views of the interior222

Video images aretransmitted from the camera to atelevision monitor, from which theoperator can view the conditions withinthe conduit. In that timeperiod, the robotic equipment used for CCTV inspection has changed significantly.The latest trend for equipment used in CCTV is for modular efficiency(interchangeable components), allowing greater versatility and a wider range ofapplications. The benefit of modular design is the reduction of added costs requiredfor “application-specific” equipment and “custom designs.”223
