CMHC has abudget in 1998/99 of $1 million.Youths living on First Nationsreserves and in Inuit communitieswho are between the agesof 17 and 29; and are out-ofschool,unemployed and havenot worked during the past sixmonths.Sponsors must be able tooffer work experience andon the job training relatedto housing. Several sponsorsaugment the financialcontribution from CMHC.In 1997/98, CMHC funded90 internship positionswith 56 different sponsors.Native InspectionServicesCMHC has contracted with Aboriginalownedbusinesses to provide housinginspection services for units constructedunder CMHC and DIAND housingprograms.
