To analyze variation in values I will examine the terms ofpraise and blame used to qualify the book or the author. To analyze variation in the wayreviewers relate to the body of knowledge across disciplinary boundaries, I willconcentrate on citation of previous books or studies on the topic of the book beingreviewed and on exemplification as a way to identify concepts and theories that relate tothe topic of the book.Again Vande Kopple’s (1985) taxonomy of different types of Metadiscourse canbe useful.
