65In that respect, the present study att<strong>em</strong>pts to <strong>de</strong>fine the genre of BRs as a pattern ofdiscourse that is recognized by writers and rea<strong>de</strong>rs as belonging to the same discoursecommunity. Discourse Communities and Disciplines are consi<strong>de</strong>red synonyms becauseboth are sociorhetorical networks that organize their m<strong>em</strong>bers around commondisciplinary goals (Swales 1990:24-26).
