In viewing rhetoricalfeatures as intrinsically associated with context, I assumed that the context of theacademic discipline in which book reviewers operate is a valuable source of informationabout the existing evaluative quality to the genre.My objective in this study was to expose the linguistic resources made available tobook reviewers within the discipline as revealed by the data, and thus contribute to abetter understanding of how BRs encapsulate features that correspond to the values, theobject of analysis, the research procedures of different fields which cannot (or shouldnot) be altogether ignored by academic members that use the genre. For that purpose, thegenre analysis was conducted in three moments.
