patrons <strong>of</strong> the Tantras, the deities who preside over the great<br />

Tantras <strong>of</strong> the Highest Yoga; since each sect tends to consider itself<br />

the special guardian <strong>of</strong> a particular Tantric tradition, to whose study<br />

its adherents especially devote themselves and whose lineage they<br />

take as their own, we find that the Gelug devote their rituals to Guhyasamaja,<br />

the Sacha to Hevajra, and the Kajii to Cakrasamvara.<br />

All the sects consider Kalacakra particularly noble and important as<br />

both a Tantra and a deity. All the Tantras <strong>of</strong> the Highest Yoga,<br />
