patrons of the Tantras, the deities who preside over the great
Tantras of the Highest Yoga; since each sect tends to consider itself
the special guardian of a particular Tantric tradition, to whose study
its adherents especially devote themselves and whose lineage they
take as their own, we find that the Gelug devote their rituals to Guhyasamaja,
the Sacha to Hevajra, and the Kajii to Cakrasamvara.
All the sects consider Kalacakra particularly noble and important as
both a Tantra and a deity. All the Tantras of the Highest Yoga,

en the minor ones, have their patron deity: Mahamaya, BuddhakapSla,
Caturpitha, all of whom have a developed iconography and
