they summon the knowledge being, absorb it, bind it, and dissolve<br />

it into the symbolic being, conveying the true power <strong>of</strong> the deity<br />

into the visualization. <strong>The</strong>y join.their palms in reverence to the<br />

single goddess and say: "<strong>The</strong>reby <strong>Tara</strong> and her divine hosts dissolve<br />

indivisibly into the symbolic being."<br />

2.114 Sealing with the initiation<br />

<strong>The</strong> final step in the Process <strong>of</strong> Generation is the initiation <strong>of</strong> the<br />

deity, the sealing <strong>of</strong> its form and its power, and for this purpose the<br />

five families <strong>of</strong> Buddhas are invited: "Once again the light from her<br />

heart radiates forth and invites the five Buddhas and their retinue."<br />

<strong>The</strong> Buddhas are welcomed with VAJRA-SAMAJAH ! and <strong>of</strong>ferings<br />

are made to them with the appropriate gestures and OM VAJRA-<br />

PUSPE AH HUM! . . . VA.JRA-DHUPE . . . ALOKE . . . GAN-<br />

DHE . . . NAIVEDYE . . . SABDA AH HUM ! This ends, as before,<br />

with the crash <strong>of</strong> the "peaceful music," and the Buddhas are prayed<br />

to bestow initiation with OM ABHISINCATU MAM SARVA-<br />

TATHAGATAH! "OM Let all the Tathagatas initiate me 1" We may<br />

note that this mantra has been taken over unchanged from rituals<br />

<strong>of</strong> self-generation by Tibetan authors innocent <strong>of</strong> Sanskrit, even
