Rheoforging of Steel<br />

As an alternative semi-<strong>solid</strong> processing route for components, rheoforging of steel<br />

alloys is in the focus of different research studies [45, 46]. The semi-<strong>solid</strong> rheoforming<br />

processes include the production of the semi-<strong>solid</strong> billet starting with a liquid<br />

state and the subsequent forming operation without prior cooling and reheating, for<br />

example using the cooling channel process (Figure 10.22) [47]. Microstructure<br />
