The Council of Europe is an intergovernmental organisation which was
founded in 1949. Its aim is to work towards a united Europe based
on freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
Today the Organisation comprises forty-six member states and is thus
a privileged platform for international co-operation in many fields such
as education, culture, sport, youth, social and economic affairs, health and,
not least, spatial planning, landscape and natural and cultural heritage.
The Naturopa magazine, published since 1968, is intended to raise
awareness among European citizens and decision makers of the importance
of sustainable development in Europe by focusing on its unique heritage.
From 1968 to 2000 Naturopa concentrated on promoting nature
conservation, sustainable management of natural resources and
the development of a multidisciplinary approach to environmental issues.
Since 2001 Naturopa has progressively introduced new themes such as
cultural heritage and landscape preservation in a perspective of sustainable
development and enhancement of the quality of life.
Naturopa is published twice yearly in the two official languages
of the Organisation (English and French).

Créé en 1949, le Conseil de l’Europe est une organisation
intergouvernementale qui travaille à l’édification d’une Europe unie, fondée
sur la liberté, la démocratie, les droits de l’homme et l’état de droit.
Rassemblant aujourd’hui 46 Etats membres, l’Organisation constitue
une plate-forme privilégiée pour la coopération internationale dans
de nombreux domaines – éducation, culture, sport, jeunesse, questions
sociales et économiques, santé – dont ceux de l’aménagement
du territoire et du patrimoine culturel, naturel et paysager.
La revue Naturopa, publiée depuis 1968 a pour but de mieux sensibiliser
les citoyens européens et les décideurs à l’importance du développement
durable du territoire européen par la prise en compte de ce patrimoine.
De 1968 à 2000, Naturopa a eu pour objectif de promouvoir la conservation
de la nature et la gestion durable des ressources naturelles et de développer
une approche pluridisciplinaire des questions environnementales.
En 2001, Naturopa a élargi sa thématique au patrimoine culturel
et paysager dans une perspective de développement territorial durable.
Naturopa paraît deux fois par an dans les deux langues officielles
de l’Organisation: l’anglais et le français.
