Ganer i sne
Utællelige krystalnåle vokser under huden
hvor en skyggeblomst nu folder sig ud
blændende
Stille, intravenøst synger de hvide skove.
In “Krystalskoven” (The Crystal Forest).
Published here with the co-operation of the Danish Literature Information Centre.
Fir trees in the snow
Under the weight of the snow the fir trees sleep
in something like a trance the branches bend and strain
like shoulders burdened with love
The scent of the cold hangs heavily between the trees
I wake in the thin light of winter
a transparent place between sorrow and laughter
a pale pink echo of vein-blue night
I love the earth more with every added day I live
The moment’s pulse and shards of pseudo-stars
– and if I lie it’s just that I’m afraid
Countless crystal needles grow under the skin
Where a dazzling shadow flower
Is opening
Softly, intravenously the white forests sing.
