Julian PRZYBOŚ
(1901-1970)
Wzdłuż Wisły
Mówiłem – krajobrazami, marzenia powierzałem –
równinom,
widok za widokiem niespełniony płynął…
Dziś na mapie widzenia rysuję granice,
przelotnie, ściśle.
Z samolotu – z utrwalonej w skrzydłach chwili –
widzę:
kraj od gór śląskich sam sobie się wyśnił,
przechylił
wylśnił Wisłą do morza.
Rzucę w przelocie – jak w siewie spod chmur –
widnokręgi
zieleniami ku Wiśle!
Siew okolic – do Polski tak naoczniej dojrzał
że tkliwe wyciągnięcie ręki –
to Mazowsze
ręka u oczu –
Warszawa…
Lecz radość rozlewna zawsze
przybliża się morze
i oddal otwiera się jaśniej,
unosi mnie, kartografa
wyobraźni,
samolot – plama na słońcu!
“Wiersze polskich poetów współczesnych”, Warszawa, 1976.
Along the Vistula River
I spoke – with landscape, and repeated my dreams –
to the plains,
View, after view, floated unfulfilled …
Today on the map of sight I draw boundaries,
Fleetingly, precisely.
From the plane – in the moment fixed in wings –
I can see:
that country from the Silesian mountains dreamt
itself, inclined, shined with the Vistula to sea.
Flying, I will throw – as with sowing from the clouds –
horizons of greenness to the Vistula! Sowing of
surroundings – to Poland matured so visually, That
gently stretching of hand – is Mazovia, hand at the
eye – is Warsaw… But joy forever widespread sea
comes closer and distance opens brighter, lifts me,
cartography of imagination, the plane – spot on the sun!
In “Poems of Polish contemporary poets”, Warszawa, 1976.
En suivant la Vistule
J’ai parlé – avec le paysage, et répété mes rêves –
Aux plaines;
Vue après vue, j’ai flotté insatisfait….
Aujourd’hui, sur la carte du regard j’ai tracé des
frontières
D’un geste fugace et précis.
De l’avion – à l’instant exact fixé dans les ailes –
Je contemple
Ce pays, tel qu’il s’est rêvé;
Bursztyn
Drzemiące na bursztynach
żywe tętno morza
otwiera łono pragnień tysiącleci
co utoczyły szum lasów przedwiecznych
w drogocennej żywicy skamieniałe słońca.
Nie tknięte ręką drwala
ściszone burzami drzewa
łkały w gorączce gwiezdnej
na żądnej łez planecie.
Bursztyny życiodajne
chłonę waszą gorycz.
Amber
The living heartbeat of the sea
Slumbering on top of amber
Opens up the millennium’s womb of desires
Which rolled the whisper of prehistoric forests
In the precious resin rest petrified suns.
Untouched by the woodcutter’s hand
Silenced by storms the trees
Sobbed in the astral fever
On the planet eager for tears.
Life-giving amber
I absorb your brightness.
Women’s Poetry” (1981-1995), Austin, 1996.
Ambre
Les battements de cœur de l’océan,
Assoupi au-dessus de l’ambre,
Fendent la matrice des désirs millénaires
Où murmuraient les forêts antédiluviennes.
Dans la précieuse résine, des soleils pétrifiés
reposent.
Oubliés par la cognée du bûcheron,
Condamnés au mutisme par les tempêtes,
Des arbres ont sangloté de fièvre astrale
Sur la planète assoiffée de larmes.
Ambre donneur de vie,
j’absorbe ton éclat.
