The major steps involved in the manufacture <strong>of</strong> sports composites are cutting and stitching. The small<br />

cottage units make these composites by hand stitching where as the bigger units go for sewing<br />

machines.<br />

Boxing equipments are made <strong>of</strong> PU laminated / PVC coated fabrics, woven polyester fabric, nylon<br />

coated with PVC on both sides. PU/PVC coated fabrics are the most commonly used fabrics.<br />

Leg guards are made <strong>of</strong> PU laminated / PVC coated fabric in front and cotton fabric on the inner side<br />

as the impact <strong>of</strong> the cricket ball is on the outside surface. Batting gloves are made <strong>of</strong> PU laminated<br />

fabric while wicket keeping gloves are made <strong>of</strong> PVC coated fabric as they are subject to more wear<br />

and tear.<br />
