Mobiltech segment <strong>of</strong> <strong>technical</strong> <strong>textiles</strong> is estimated to provide employment to 28,000 people 7 <strong>of</strong><br />

whom number <strong>of</strong> <strong>technical</strong> employees 8 is estimated at 22,000 and number <strong>of</strong> non-<strong>technical</strong> employees<br />

is estimated at 6,000.<br />

The growth <strong>of</strong> the mobiltech products industry in India is dependent on the growth <strong>of</strong> automobiles<br />

production in India. The key impediments to growth being faced by the industry are:-<br />

1. <strong>Domestic</strong> availability <strong>of</strong> raw materials like Nylon and polyester filaments is low<br />

2. Availability <strong>of</strong> competitively priced imports from the south-asian countries<br />

3. Low demand <strong>of</strong> airbags in the country because <strong>of</strong> which domestic production <strong>of</strong> airbags is not<br />

economical<br />

Key growth driver for the Mobiltech segment (and products)<br />

The passenger vehicles have grown at 13.4% y-o-y over the last five years while CVs have grown at<br />

15.5% y-o-y. The passenger cars have grown at a CAGR <strong>of</strong> 13.8% y-o-y in the last 3 years while UVs<br />

and MPVs have grown at 10.4% and 14.4% y-o-y respectively. The industry is expected to maintain<br />

similar growth levels over the next 5 years.<br />
