Phoenix Yule, MRF, Sempertrans Nirlon are the major manufacturers of conveyor belts in India.
Phoenix Yule Ltd is the leader in steel reinforced belts. Key manufacturers of belting fabrics are SRF
and Nirlon Limited. Nirlon Limited supplies most of its belting fabric to Sempertrans Nirlon ltd,
which is its joint venture with Serriperit A.G., an Austrian industrial rubber product multinational.
(SNL) which was formed in January 2000 is planning to double its capacity.
SRF is the market leader in India with a domestic market share of over 50 per cent, and is the third
largest producer of belting fabrics in the world. SRF is planning to set up a plant to manufacture
Polyester industrial yarn at Gummidipoondi near Chennai. This plant, in addition to manufacturing
High Modulus Low Shrinkage (HMLS) Polyester yarn, will have the capability to manufacture an
assortment of high tenacity and low shrinkage yarns for various end-use applications such as belting,
coated, single cord, etc. The company has a current capacity of 7500 tonnes of belting fabric per
annum.
