The airfoil <strong>of</strong> blades may be <strong>of</strong> constant section and constant width for<br />

short blades, but twisted for longer ones. The longest blades for the last few<br />

rows <strong>of</strong> the LP are twisted, to match the aerodynamics at different radii and<br />

improve aerodynamic efficiency. Most recent designs have also begun to be<br />

leaned or bowed in both the radial as well as axial directions.<br />

Nozzles or stationary blades in LP stages are typically arranged in<br />

diaphragms like those for HP and IP impulse stages. However, the<br />

construction may be simpler than those in the HP and IP, consisting, for<br />

example, <strong>of</strong> only fixed blades, constrained by inner and outer (hub and rim)<br />
