music festivals.<br />
Seoul International Music Festival<br />
A total of 885 musicians performed in<br />
20 concerts at the Sejong Cultural<br />
Center and the Seoul Arts Center, between<br />
September 17 and October 1.<br />
Audiences totalled 42,118, filling 66<br />
percent of the seating capacity.<br />
• Opening Concert (Sejong Cultural<br />
Center, September 17)<br />
The Korea Philharmonic Orchestra<br />
and the National Chorus played under<br />
the baton of Won Kyong-soo. Jung<br />
Eun-suk, Kim Kwan-dong and Park Sewon<br />
were the featured vocal soloists.<br />
The concert was attended by 1,241<br />
persons.<br />
• Concerts by the Moscow State Radio<br />
and Television Choir (Sejong Cultural<br />
Center, September 18-19)<br />
Two concerts directed by Ludmilla<br />
Ermakova attracted a total of 7,420<br />
persons.<br />
• Concert for Commemorating the<br />
Olympic Peace Day (Seoul Arts<br />
Center, September 20)<br />
Hong Yon-taek conducted the Korean<br />
Symphony Orchestra for an audience<br />
of 1,002.<br />
• Concerts by the Moscow Philharmonic<br />
Orchestra (Sejong Cultural<br />
Center, September 20-21)<br />
Four concerts had audiences totalling<br />
11,813. The conductor was Dmitri<br />
Kitayenko.<br />
• Concert by the Lausanne Chamber<br />
Orchestra (Sejong Cultural Center,<br />

An audience of 1,306 attended the<br />
concert. Conductor was Laurence<br />
Forster.<br />
• An Evening of Chamber Music<br />
(Seoul Arts Center, September 23)<br />
The Tokyo Ensemble performed for an<br />
audience of 1,475.<br />
• An Evening of Brass Quintet (Seoul<br />
Arts Center, September 24)<br />
The Arban Brass Quintet of France<br />
performed for an audience of 1,066.<br />
• Korean Art Song Festival (Seoul Arts<br />
Center, September 25)<br />
Accompanied by the Inchon City Symphony<br />
Orchestra under the baton of<br />
Lim Won-shik, leading vocalists such<br />
as Kim Yun-ja, Yang Un-hi, Kim Shin-ja,<br />
Paek Nam-ok, Om Chong-haeng, Shin<br />
Yong-jo, Kim Song-gil, Oh Hyon-myong<br />
and Yun chi-ho performed Korean art<br />
songs. The concert drew an audience<br />
of 1,728.<br />

An audience of 2,063 attended the<br />
recital.<br />
• Concert by the London Festival<br />
