The first to fourth floors were used as<br />
village facilities; a dining hall with 80<br />
seat capacity and an information<br />
center were set up on the first floor.<br />
Sixty rooms were reserved for delegations,<br />
one room each for chef de mission<br />
with other rooms shared by two<br />
athletes/officials.<br />
Meals were prepared in accordance<br />
with the menu of the Seoul Olympic<br />
Village, buffet-style served on a fiveday<br />
cycle with a daily minimum of<br />
6,000 calories. Materials were secured<br />
mostly by making full use of stocked<br />
articles at the hotel, and shortage were<br />
covered by backup materials from the<br />
city and provincial authorities, the<br />
Olympic marketing program and paid<br />
rental. The materials were secured en<br />
masse one or two days before the<br />
opening day so as not to hinder<br />
regular hotel business operations.<br />
Facilities such as conference room,<br />
recreation room, barber shop, video<br />
game room, convenience store, exhibition<br />
room, post office, telephone office,<br />
facsimile and sauna were provided.<br />
The medical center was open 24 hours<br />
a day, offering emergency treatment<br />
and massage service.<br />
The village headquarters hosted a<br />
welcoming celebration with luncheon<br />
and dinner party for the participating<br />
soccer teams. The chairman of Taegu<br />
Lions Club gave a special luncheon on<br />
September 19 for teams from the<br />
United States and the U.S.S.R.<br />
Taegu Sub-village offered Olympic<br />
Family dwelling quarters at Dongtaegu<br />
Tourist Hotel for 27 days from<br />
September 11 to 27 to provide convenient<br />
arrangements for the FIFA staff,<br />
competition judges, media personnel<br />
and NOC officials.<br />

The Taejon Sub-village was<br />
established at Yusung Tourist Hotel<br />
located in Pongmyong-dong, Chunggu<br />
in Taejon. One hundred fifty<br />
athletes and officials from six countries<br />
— Zambia, Iraq, Brazil, Nigeria,<br />
Yugoslavia, Guatemala — were<br />
accommodated for 21 days from<br />
September 3 to 23. The sub-village<br />
was located 12 kilometers from Taejon<br />
Stadium and 15 kilometers from<br />
Korean Water Resources Corp.,<br />
a location that did not create any<br />
inconvenience for participants.<br />
The SLOOC concluded the contract<br />
with the hotel in May 1988 and<br />
established an operation office in<br />
June, followed by opening ceremony<br />
