3.3. SonRec Recorder Data Extraction<br />

SonRec is used to download binary data files from the internal recorder. It works as follows.<br />

• It establishes communication with the <strong>Argonaut</strong> at the standard communication rate<br />

(default 9600).<br />

• It downloads a directory of files on the internal recorder.<br />

• The user specifies which files to download.<br />

• SonRec enters a special download mode at a higher baud rate (usually 115200), and<br />

downloads the specified files at this rate to a user-specified directory.<br />

To run SonRec:<br />

• Connect the <strong>Argonaut</strong> to the PC and apply system power.<br />

• Start View<strong>Argonaut</strong> (Start|Programs|<strong>SonTek</strong> Software|View<strong>Argonaut</strong>).<br />

• Verify the communication parameters at the bottom of the View<strong>Argonaut</strong> window (§3.1).<br />

• Click the SonRec button.<br />

• Upon execution, SonRec will establish communication with the <strong>Argonaut</strong> and download<br />

the recorder’s directory (Figure 3).<br />

The SonRec window (Figure 3) shows the following.<br />

• A directory of files on the internal recorder<br />

• Buttons to access the main program functions and to specify the download baud rate<br />
