The basic procedure for an autonomous deployment is below.<br />

<strong>SonTek</strong>/<strong>YSI</strong><br />

• Connect the <strong>Argonaut</strong> to the PC and the power supply to be used for deployment.<br />

• Start View<strong>Argonaut</strong>/Deployment and select Autonomous Deployment.<br />

• Verify hardware configuration parameters using System Configuration Parameters.<br />

• Specify all setup and deployment parameters for your application.<br />

• Check internal recorder status to ensure sufficient recording space. Download any existing<br />

files and format (erase) the recorder if necessary.<br />

• Check system clock; reset if necessary.<br />

• Click Deploy to start data collection.<br />

• Disconnect the communication cable from the PC before turning the computer off.<br />

• Install dummy plugs and other cables as needed. Deploy the system.<br />

Hardware Configuration Parameters<br />

• The System Configuration Parameters button at the bottom of the window opens a display<br />

window showing hardware parameters.<br />

• Click Close to exit the configuration window.<br />

Internal Recorder Status<br />

• The bottom left of the screen shows the used and free space on the internal recorder.<br />

• It also displays the total recording time based on the setup and deployment parameters.<br />

• Pressing >>… opens a SonRec recorder extraction program that can be used to download<br />

data files and format (erase) the recorder (§3.3).<br />

System Clock Status<br />

• The bottom right of the window shows the current time from the PC clock and the<br />

<strong>Argonaut</strong> internal clock.<br />

• Two buttons are provided to set the <strong>Argonaut</strong> clock either to match the PC clock, or to a<br />

user-supplied date and time.<br />

• The <strong>Argonaut</strong> clock should be checked, and reset if necessary, before every autonomous<br />

deployment.<br />
