S<strong>in</strong>ce <strong>the</strong> army marcht hence under <strong>the</strong> Command <strong>of</strong> major general<br />

Savage and left mee here by order from your honours : I have not had<br />

any th<strong>in</strong>g worth send<strong>in</strong>g downe A post: And now hav<strong>in</strong>g an opportunity<br />

I thought meete to acqua<strong>in</strong>t your honours that <strong>the</strong> souldiers here are <strong>in</strong><br />

greate clistresse for want <strong>of</strong> cloth<strong>in</strong>g both L<strong>in</strong>en and Woollen : So I desired<br />

<strong>the</strong> Commissaries here to send downe to quabouge to see if <strong>the</strong>re any supplies<br />

: So <strong>the</strong>y brought from <strong>the</strong>nce A few Shirts Stock<strong>in</strong>gs Shoes and<br />

drawers : but not an eighth <strong>of</strong> what wee want : So that I shall beseech<br />

your honours to take some speedy Course for a supply to be sent to <strong>the</strong><br />

Commissaries here for <strong>the</strong>i[r] [relejeafe : here will want much as <strong>the</strong> enclosed<br />

note will show you : , forasmuch as it hath pleased your hon-<br />

as I ought <strong>in</strong> this imployment : And it would grieve me to be negligent <strong>in</strong><br />

anyth<strong>in</strong>g that might be for <strong>the</strong> good <strong>of</strong> this yeare Country <strong>in</strong> this day <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong>ir distress : Therefore shal leave it to your honours Consideration<br />

whe<strong>the</strong>r some o<strong>the</strong>r man may not be fitter to<br />

reason <strong>of</strong> my weaknes <strong>of</strong> body : I have here<br />

be imployed <strong>in</strong> this place by<br />

sent you those Lists <strong>of</strong> my<br />

Company as <strong>the</strong>y came from boston and after<strong>war</strong>ds from marlborough as<br />

<strong>the</strong>y Cont<strong>in</strong>ued to <strong>the</strong> seventh <strong>in</strong>stant: also an account from <strong>the</strong> Commissary<br />

<strong>of</strong> northamton to that day : I have also sent A List <strong>of</strong> those Left <strong>the</strong><br />

7 th <strong>in</strong>stant under my Command <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong>se 3 townes : most <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m hav<strong>in</strong>g<br />

beene here long before my time : Thus hop<strong>in</strong>g your honours will Consider<br />

so as to send some speedy supply for <strong>the</strong> souldiers here and also order someth<strong>in</strong>g<br />

for <strong>the</strong> supply <strong>of</strong> my family <strong>in</strong> my absence : I shall beg <strong>the</strong> Lord to<br />

be your Counsellour and guide <strong>in</strong> this time <strong>of</strong> distracktion and sore trouble<br />

: And rema<strong>in</strong>e yours to serve your honours to <strong>the</strong> uttmost <strong>of</strong> my power<br />

where<strong>in</strong> I may.<br />

I beseech your honours deliver <strong>the</strong>se <strong>lists</strong> to whome <strong>the</strong>y may concerne<br />

And command <strong>the</strong> souldiers to make hast backe to <strong>the</strong>ir quarters<br />

Your honours s<strong>in</strong>ce y® close <strong>of</strong> this <strong>the</strong>re is come <strong>in</strong> a young man taken<br />

from Spr<strong>in</strong>gfield at <strong>the</strong> beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> last month who <strong>in</strong>formes that <strong>the</strong> enemy<br />

is draw<strong>in</strong>g up all <strong>the</strong>ir forces to<strong>war</strong>ds <strong>the</strong>se townes : and <strong>the</strong>ir head<br />

quarters to be at (Deere) field alias pegunkugg.<br />
