the tips would be barely perceptible above the moving branches of the trees. 6.550 Where there are distant views of the development, there would be a low magnitude of change in the view. However there would be no change in the view experienced from the majority of the Rotherham Roundwalk and the Trans Pennine Trail in this area or from the village of Wentworth and the Woodhouse for the reasons outlined above. Significance of Operational Effects on View 6.551 Therefore there would be no greater than a slight effect on the visual amenity experienced by people visiting Wentworth Woodhouse or using the Rotherham Roundwalk and the Trans Pennine Trail through the Deer Park. Decommissioning Phase 6.552 From this viewpoint none of the decommissioning works would be visible. Therefore there would be no effect on the viewpoint during decommissioning. Cumulative Effects 6.553 At this viewpoint the wind turbines at the AMRC, Hampole and Marr would not be visible. The cumulative ZTVs suggest that the turbines at Loscar would be visible but in reality they would not be visible due to screening from woodland belts around the parkland. 6.554 Therefore there would be no additional cumulative effect on the visual amenity experienced within the village. VIEWPOINT 17 CONISBROUGH Nature and Sensitivity of Baseline View 6.555 This viewpoint is representative of the view experienced by properties on the south western edge of Conisbrough and which have south west facing windows or gardens. 6.556 It should be noted that properties on the south eastern edge of Conisbrough (bordering A630) are not within the ZTV of the site and have no long distance view of the site. Furthermore, vegetation in gardens and the dense network of residential streets typically associated with an urban area greatly restricts long distance views in the direction of the site from much of the remainder of Conisbrough. Essentially there are only long distance views towards the site from a small number of properties which back directly onto open fields east of the town. 135 Penny Hill Wind Farm Environmental Statement
6.557 The photograph presented in Figure 6.26 was taken from the end of Cypress Grove on the eastern edge of Conisbrough. It is approximately 9.5km to the northeast of the site. 6.558 The view from this location towards the site is across gently undulating arable farmland with gappy hedgerows and only a small number of mature trees. The site is visible in the far distance beyond an overhead electricity line and is partially obscured by the rising ground in the middle distance of the view. 6.559 As this viewpoint is representative of a residential area it is considered to be of high sensitivity to a change in the view. Nature and Magnitude of Construction Impacts 6.560 From this viewpoint none of the construction impacts would be visible. Therefore there would be no additional impact on the view during construction. Significance of Construction Effects on View 6.561 There would be no additional effect on the viewpoint during construction. Nature and Magnitude of Operational Impacts 6.562 A visual representation of the predicted view from this location is presented in Figure 6.26. 6.563 From this viewpoint, the ZTV and wireframe suggest that the tips of all six turbines would just be visible on the horizon in a southerly direction, approximately 9.5km away. In reality vegetation on the horizon would effectively screen all but the very slightest glimpse of any turbine blades. At this distance and in the context of the wider panoramic views available from this location, the turbines would be barely perceptible. 6.564 Therefore there would be no change in the view experienced from Conisbrough. Significance of Operational Effects on View 6.565 There would be no effect on the visual amenity experienced from properties or footpaths in the vicinity of Conisbrough. Decommissioning Phase 6.566 From this viewpoint none of the decommissioning works would be visible.
