Ecology and ornithology;
Archaeology;
Operational phase of works;
Environmental auditing and monitoring; and
Decommissioning phase works.
16.6 It will also include any specific measures agreed by the Applicant with
RMBC and other statutory consultees in the form of mitigation measures,
planning conditions and/or consents.
STEWARDSHIP AGREEMENTS
16.7 The majority of the land within the site boundary is managed as part of
either the Countryside Stewardship Scheme or the Environmental
Stewardship Agreement (Entry Level). Countryside Stewardship was
introduced as a pilot scheme in England in 1991 by the then Countryside
Commission and operates outside the Environmentally Sensitive Areas.
Payments are made to farmers and other land managers to enhance and
conserve English landscapes, their wildlife and history and to help people
to enjoy them. The Department of Environment Food and Rural Affairs
(Defra) website 15 states:
„Until the launch of Environmental Stewardship, Countryside Stewardship
was the Government‟s main scheme for the wider countryside, aiming,
through the payment of grants, to improve the natural beauty and diversity
of the countryside, enhance, restore and re-create targeted landscapes,
their wildlife habitats and historical features, and to improve opportunities
for public access.‟
16.8 Environmental Stewardship is a new agri-environment scheme which
provides funding to farmers and other land managers in England who
