FUNCTION<br />

Performs front-end testing and debugging functions. Using this call,<br />

you can obtain information about PDP-11 based front end nodes, send<br />

and receive front-end messages, and examine and deposit into the<br />

front-end software.<br />

In the calling sequence, you may supply the following variables:<br />

length is the length of the argument block.<br />

o addr is the location of the argument block. Starting at this<br />

address, the call accepts one to four words, depending on the<br />

function code.<br />

The format of the argument list for CAL11. is:<br />

Function word, containing the port specification<br />

and the function code. The left half of this word<br />

contains the type of port. The right half must<br />

contain a function code. The argument list<br />

following the function word may include the<br />

The first word of the argument list (.C11FC) is required for all<br />

functions. The left half of this word specifies the type of port by<br />

which the~front end is connected to the central processor. The port<br />

specification can take either of the following formats. The first<br />

format is old, and may be used by existing programs. However, the new<br />

format is recommended for new programs.<br />
