Recursive<br />

A repetitive process in which the result of each process is<br />

dependent upon the result of the previous one.<br />

Reentrant program<br />

Refresh<br />

,A program consisting of sharable code which can have several<br />

simultaneously independent users.<br />

To remove all files from a file structure and to build the<br />

initial set of files based on information in the HOME block.<br />

Relative address<br />

REL file<br />

The address before hardware or software relocation is added.<br />

A file containing one or more relocatable object modules.<br />

Relocatable address<br />

An address within a module which is specified as an<br />

the first location in that module.<br />

Relocate<br />

1. To move a routine from one portion of storage to another and<br />

to adjust the necessary address references so that the<br />

routine can be executed in its new location.<br />

2. To convert a relocatable binary module to an absolute binary<br />

module.<br />

Relocation counter<br />

1. The number assigned by LINK-<strong>10</strong> as the beginning address of a<br />

Control Section. This number is assigned in the process of<br />

loading specific Control Sections into a saved file or a core<br />

image and is transformed from a relocatable quantity to an<br />

absolute quantity.<br />

2. The address counter that is used during the assembly of<br />

relocatable code.<br />

Relocation factor<br />

The contents of the relocation counter for a control section.<br />

This number is added to every relocatable reference within the<br />

Control Section. The relocation factor is determined from the<br />

relocatable base address for the control section (usually 0 and<br />

400000) and the actual address in user virtual address space at<br />

which the module is being loaded.<br />

Remote access<br />

Pertaining to communication with a data processing facility by<br />

one or more stations that are distant from that facility.<br />
