The UFDs for the same project-programmer number on all file<br />

structures in the job's search list.<br />

Control character<br />

A character whose purpose is to control an action, such as line<br />

spacing on the line printer, rather than to pass data to a<br />

program. An ASCII control character has an octal representation<br />

of 0-37. It is typed by holding down the CTRL key on the<br />

terminal while striking a character key. It can be punched on a<br />

card using the multi-punch key.<br />

Controller<br />

The device or portion of a device which controls the operation of<br />

connected units. Some controllers can initiate simultaneous<br />

positioning commands to some of its units and can then perform a<br />

transfer for one of its units.<br />

Controller class name<br />

All file structures residing on all controllers of a given type.<br />

Controller name<br />

Core<br />

All file structures residing on a specific controller.<br />

Physical memory.<br />

Core storage<br />

A storage device normally used for main memory in a computer.<br />

The maximum amount of core memory that a single job can use at<br />

one time. This value can range from MINMAX to total user core.<br />

The amount of core guaranteed to unlocked jobs.<br />
