Job<br />

The entire sequence of steps from-beginning to end, that the user<br />

initiates from his interactive terminal or batch control file or<br />

that the operator initiates from his operator's console. Thus,<br />

it is a specific group of ~teps presented as a unit of work for<br />

the computer. A job usually includes all necessary computer<br />

programs, files, linkages and instructions to the operating<br />

system.<br />

Job Data Area (JOBDAT)<br />

The first 140 octal locations of a user'g virtual address space.<br />

This area provides storage for certain data items used by both<br />

the monitor and the user's program.<br />

The ordered list of file st~uctures for your job that are<br />

searched automatically when the generic device name DSK is<br />

specified or implied in the file spBcification.<br />
