fulness of God does reside in Christ is implied in<br />

Eph 3:19, but this can hardly be the primary intent<br />

be given to the whole pericope vv. 14-19.<br />

is set out by means of three tva clauses a prayer of<br />

the author for his readers.<br />

The statement with which<br />

we are concerned is essentially the conclusion of the<br />

'process' that is outlined by means of the first two<br />

t~ clauses. The end of the process to which v.19b<br />

refers is, however, not yet complete in reality, but<br />

in that it is expressed by a tva form<br />

(which has the same purpose as the well-known and<br />

frequently occuring infinitive of result) it is<br />

envisaged as being beyond doubt. 71 The concern then<br />

is not essentially with the sum-total of either<br />

divine gifts or deity, but much more with an expression<br />

of divine purpose and"consequently, there is implicit<br />

emphasis on the instrument through which this divine<br />
