The author of this epistle, though hardly one who stand~ in the main stream of second century Christianity, has correctly understood and has consequently made explicit what was frequently only implicit in the writing of both the Apostolic Fathers and Apologists: for him, the ascension is not an event that is outside experience; it is essentially practical. In His exaltation - be it by resurrection or by heavenly journey or by both - Christ; has secured for the believer participation in the rule of God. -370-
