Our discussion thus far has centred on<br />

~ Cor 15, but since the same traditions underly this<br />

text as Eph 1:20ff, coupled of course with the fact<br />

that verbal agreement exists between the citation of<br />

Ps 8:6 in both texts, we can say without doubt that<br />

the same theology is also assumed and, therefore, the<br />

povlers are cosmic in nature and equally hostile to<br />

God.<br />

The cosmic aspect in Ephesians is further<br />

emphasised by the addition of xo.t ?to.v'to, bv6j.lo.'to,<br />

bvoj.l~oj.ltvou ot j.l6vov ~v 't~ o.t~v~ 'tou't~ &AN& Xo.! tv<br />

in Eph 1:21.<br />

One can ask at this point<br />

to what extent these powers have changed in becoming<br />

subject to Christ.<br />

C.D. Morrison asserts 150 "By<br />

their subjection under Christ the invisible powers<br />

have rather lost their evil character, and they also<br />

now stand under and within the Lordship of Christ,<br />

as long as they are subject to him and do not seek<br />

to become emancipated from their place in his service".<br />

But Eph 6:10-13 militates against this view;<br />

here<br />

the Christian is still combating these powers and so,<br />

being hostile to the christian they', though defeated<br />

in principle, must be assumed to be hostile to God.<br />

Before leaving this discussion there<br />

is one more point, particularly as it refers to<br />

Eph 1:20ff.<br />

The statement of Christ's supremacy<br />

over these powers in v. 21 is not only intended as a<br />
