been initiated. First-floor windows on the east side
of the building, and some upper-story windows on
Comenius, have already been replaced. Although
the replacements are not jarring, they are noticeable
and detract from the building’s integrity. Before any
more historic windows in the building are replaced,
the college is strongly encouraged to adopt the
recommendations and guidelines summarized in
the Overall Conditions-Key Preservation Issues section
of this chapter.
If, during the design phase of the proposed
renovation project or normal course of operations,
it is determined that a historic window or door is no
longer needed as a matter of interior function and
use, the appearance of the window or door should
