came to <strong>the</strong> wide river, flowing through <strong>the</strong><br />

broad, green plain.<br />

til he reached <strong>the</strong> Indian village. Everything<br />

had happened just as his sister had said. And<br />

<strong>the</strong> poorest looking wigwam. There, as he ex<br />

pected, he found a group of pretty girls. The<br />

youngest was <strong>the</strong> most beautiful. Mimkuda<br />

wogoosk went to her, <strong>and</strong> took a seat by her<br />

side. She remained seated. This meant that<br />

she was willing to be his wife. And as <strong>the</strong><br />

parents were content that it should be so, <strong>the</strong>y<br />

were married.<br />

his manly bearing had won <strong>the</strong> heart of <strong>the</strong><br />

maiden, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> good will of her fa<strong>the</strong>r; but<br />

angry, for <strong>the</strong> maiden had many suitors among<br />

<strong>the</strong>m, who had tried to win her, <strong>and</strong> now to see<br />
