evil spirit leaped upon his back <strong>and</strong> he galloped<br />

away <strong>and</strong> was soon out of sight.<br />

The two bro<strong>the</strong>rs left <strong>the</strong>ir old home, after<br />

that, <strong>and</strong> set out upon a journey; but <strong>the</strong>y were<br />

seen by only a few people, for <strong>the</strong>y were in<br />

visible to most. At length <strong>the</strong>y came to a house<br />

<strong>and</strong> went into an upper chamber. In <strong>the</strong> morn<br />

ing <strong>the</strong>ir friend came to see <strong>the</strong>m, <strong>and</strong> said :<br />

&quot;We had better stay here all night.&quot;<br />

The next morning, when <strong>the</strong> people of <strong>the</strong><br />

house went to inquire for <strong>the</strong>m, <strong>the</strong> room was<br />

empty. The doors <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> windows were fas<br />

tened, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> boys clo<strong>the</strong>s were left in <strong>the</strong><br />

room. They had been taken away by <strong>the</strong> good<br />

stranger to his own country, where <strong>the</strong>re were<br />

no evil spirits to trouble <strong>the</strong>m.
