&quot;No! No!&quot; answered <strong>the</strong> boy,<br />

&quot;I could not<br />

part with my bull for any price.&quot;<br />

Then <strong>the</strong> king said :<br />

&quot;Well<br />

<strong>the</strong>n, let <strong>the</strong> animals fight.&quot;<br />

So <strong>the</strong> bulls were taken to a large field,<br />

where many people were ga<strong>the</strong>red to see <strong>the</strong><br />

sport.<br />

&quot;Do not kill <strong>the</strong> king s bull,&quot;<br />

<strong>the</strong> boy whis<br />

knock him down <strong>and</strong> show that you<br />

pered, &quot;but<br />

are <strong>the</strong> master.&quot;<br />

Then <strong>the</strong> fight began. The bulls rushed at<br />

each o<strong>the</strong>r with <strong>the</strong>ir heads held low, <strong>and</strong> very<br />

soon <strong>the</strong> king s beautiful white bull was on <strong>the</strong><br />

ground under <strong>the</strong> feet of <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r.<br />

&quot;Call<br />

your bull away!&quot; begged <strong>the</strong> king.<br />

&quot;Do not let him kill my bull 1&quot; The boy called<br />

to his bull, which at once left <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r, <strong>and</strong><br />

came quietly to him.<br />

The king s bull lay on <strong>the</strong> ground, wounded<br />

<strong>and</strong> bleeding.<br />

&quot;If<br />

you will only heal <strong>the</strong> wounds your bull<br />

has made,&quot; said <strong>the</strong> king,<br />

&quot;I will pay you well.&quot;<br />

So <strong>the</strong> boy gave <strong>the</strong> king s bull some of his<br />

magical medicine <strong>and</strong> at once <strong>the</strong> animal was<br />

healed. The king rewarded him as he promised,<br />

<strong>and</strong> gave him one hundred pounds <strong>and</strong> a fine<br />

horse. This money also <strong>the</strong> boy gave to his<br />

fa<strong>the</strong>r, who laid it away with all <strong>the</strong> rest of <strong>the</strong><br />

money.
