One day in the summer he was in the forest
hunting for game, when he met a well-dressed
man, who spoke to him kindly, and asked him
what he was doing.
"I am hunting for venison, the young man
answered.
"but what
"Very well,"
said the stranger,
has become of the plan you thought of so much
in the winter f"
At first the young man was puzzled to know
what the stranger could mean, but at last he
remembered the dead crow, and the wish that
had passed through his mind. He told the
stranger what his mother had said.
"I know very well where the beautiful

maiden lives, said the stranger,
"and I can
help you find her and win The her."

had supernatural power. He was a Megumoowesoo.
The young man did not know this, but
he was glad to have a friend who would help
him in his adventure. So he went back to the
wigwam and told his parents what had hap
pened, and prepared for the journey.
When everything was ready, the two men
started off together. They travelled several
days, until they reached the shore of a large
lake. On the shore was a wigwam. When
they went in they found an old man who re
ceived them kindly, and wished to know where
they were going.
