was just as much on <strong>the</strong> platter as ever.<br />

They spent <strong>the</strong> night in <strong>the</strong> wigwam of<br />

<strong>Glooscap</strong>; <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> next morning, before <strong>the</strong>y<br />

set out upon <strong>the</strong>ir journey, <strong>the</strong> Great Chief<br />

gave <strong>the</strong> older Indian new clothing <strong>and</strong> <strong>com</strong>bed<br />

his hair, <strong>and</strong> gave him a magical hair string.<br />

This hair string brought to <strong>the</strong> Indian magical<br />

powers, <strong>and</strong> changed him into a Megumoowesoo<br />

a good magician. Then <strong>Glooscap</strong> gave him a<br />

<strong>and</strong> taught him how to play <strong>and</strong> to<br />

tiny flute,<br />

sing. He had never been able to sing before,<br />

but now, when <strong>Glooscap</strong> told him to sing, he<br />

found that he had a wonderful voice, <strong>and</strong> could<br />

sing with <strong>great</strong> ease.<br />

The Megumoowesoo now asked <strong>Glooscap</strong> to<br />

loan <strong>the</strong>m his canoe, so that <strong>the</strong>y might con<br />

tinue <strong>the</strong>ir journey.<br />

&quot;I will lend you my canoe willingly,&quot; said<br />

<strong>Glooscap</strong>, you will &quot;if only bring<br />

again. I have never yet loaned it, but that I<br />

had to go after it, before I could get it back<br />

again.<br />

<strong>Glooscap</strong> took <strong>the</strong> two young men down to <strong>the</strong><br />
