her by <strong>the</strong> arm, <strong>and</strong> given her a kiss.&quot;<br />

Coolnajoo, shall know<br />

better next time.&quot;<br />

But <strong>the</strong> next time Coolnajoo was sent for a<br />

pig. He led <strong>the</strong> pig until he came to <strong>the</strong> lane.<br />

Then he tried to make <strong>the</strong> pig walk on its hind<br />

legs, <strong>and</strong> when <strong>the</strong> terrified animal squealed <strong>and</strong><br />

kicked, Coolnajoo gave it a kiss. But <strong>the</strong><br />

frightened pig gave Coolnajoo such a blow in<br />

<strong>the</strong> face with his tusk that Coolnajoo let go of<br />

<strong>the</strong> rope, <strong>and</strong> off went <strong>the</strong> pig home.<br />

Coolnajoo went home with his face torn <strong>and</strong><br />

bleeding, <strong>and</strong> told his bro<strong>the</strong>rs that he had lost<br />

<strong>the</strong> pig.<br />

But one day <strong>the</strong> bro<strong>the</strong>rs needed a tub of<br />

lard, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>re was no one to send but Coolna<br />

joo. So <strong>the</strong>y told Coolnajoo just what to do<br />

<strong>and</strong> said he must be sure to bring <strong>the</strong> lard home<br />

safely.<br />

Coolnajoo bought <strong>the</strong> lard, <strong>and</strong> started for<br />

home. When he came to a part of <strong>the</strong> road that<br />

was dried <strong>and</strong> cracked by <strong>the</strong> sun, he said:<br />
