He bought <strong>the</strong> horse, <strong>and</strong> started home<br />

house yourself. took off <strong>the</strong> halter <strong>and</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> horse kicked up his heels <strong>and</strong> made for his<br />

Coolnajoo went home <strong>and</strong> told his bro<strong>the</strong>rs<br />

how stupid <strong>the</strong> horse had been.<br />

&quot;You numbskull !&quot;<br />

<strong>the</strong>y exclaimed; &quot;you<br />

can<br />

never do anything right. Why did you not ride<br />

him down <strong>the</strong> lane?&quot;<br />

I will do better next &quot;Oh, time,&quot;<br />

he promised.<br />

Soon after this <strong>the</strong> bro<strong>the</strong>rs sent Coolnajoo<br />

to find a woman to help care for <strong>the</strong> mo<strong>the</strong>r,<br />

who was ill. Coolnajoo took his bridle <strong>and</strong><br />

went off. He soon found a woman, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>y<br />

started home toge<strong>the</strong>r. When <strong>the</strong>y reached<br />

<strong>the</strong> head of <strong>the</strong> lane Coolnajoo said to her:<br />

&quot;I must put <strong>the</strong> bridle on your head; you<br />

will need to carry me on your back.<br />

The terrified woman screamed, <strong>and</strong> broke<br />

away from Coolnajoo <strong>and</strong> fled.<br />

Coolnajoo was very much puzzled at <strong>the</strong><br />

woman s actions. He went home <strong>and</strong> told his<br />

bro<strong>the</strong>rs that <strong>the</strong> woman had run away.<br />

&quot;Why,<br />

what was <strong>the</strong> trouble,&quot; <strong>the</strong>y asked<br />

him.
