put on <strong>the</strong> shoes of swiftness, <strong>and</strong> grasped <strong>the</strong><br />

sword in his h<strong>and</strong>.<br />

The robbers stood just as <strong>the</strong> prince had told<br />

<strong>the</strong>m, <strong>and</strong> at sunset <strong>the</strong>y turned to see how he<br />

had divided <strong>the</strong> spoils; when, what was <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

surprise to find that no prince was to be seen;<br />

<strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>re was no magical coat, or shoes, or<br />

sword !<br />

When <strong>the</strong> prince had taken <strong>the</strong> sword, he<br />

wished <strong>the</strong> shoes to carry him to <strong>the</strong> door of his<br />

eldest sister s house. He had no sooner made<br />

this wish <strong>the</strong>n he felt himself being carried<br />

through <strong>the</strong> air, <strong>and</strong> as though in an instant, he<br />

stood in front of a large, beautiful mansion. He<br />

knocked, <strong>and</strong> at once a woman opened <strong>the</strong> door.<br />

The prince knew that she was his eldest sister,<br />

whom he was seeking.<br />
