Soon he saw <strong>com</strong>ing toward <strong>the</strong> wigwam a<br />

beautiful, graceful maiden. She was well<br />

dressed <strong>and</strong> clean. She entered <strong>the</strong> wigwam,<br />

<strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> young brave drew near, <strong>and</strong> stepping<br />

softly, looked through a hole into <strong>the</strong> lodge,<br />

<strong>and</strong> watched her as she busied herself about<br />

<strong>the</strong> work of <strong>the</strong> wigwam.<br />

Then he drew aside <strong>the</strong> blankets in <strong>the</strong> door<br />

way, <strong>and</strong> stood before <strong>the</strong> maiden. She<br />

seemed frightened <strong>and</strong> confused.<br />

&quot;Have no fear,&quot;<br />

he said. &quot;I will not harm<br />

Soon <strong>the</strong>y became friendly, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>y<br />
