The physical condition of much of the NHS estate in NW London is poor:<br />

Three quarters of hospitals require significant investment and refurbishment to meet<br />

modern standards, at an estimated cost of approximately £150 million 33 – we need to<br />

prioritise where we invest to maximum effect as capital funding is a scarce resource.<br />

In addition, primary and community care requires further investment. The details are<br />

set out in Chapter 16.<br />

Ealing has 79 GP practices. As Figure 4.9 shows, only 4% of GP practices were meeting<br />

statutory requirements and guidance at the time of the last estates review.<br />
