What DeLemos found was that the part-Aboriginal children were<br />

markedly advanced in the Piagetian measures as compared with<br />

the full-Aborigines of the same ages. The differences were not<br />

small <strong>and</strong> did not depend upon large samples for their high level<br />

of statistical significance. They are remarkably large differences,<br />

beyond anything that has ever been produced <strong>by</strong> direct training<br />

on Piagetian tasks <strong>and</strong> concepts. The results for the six types of<br />

Piagetian conservation tests used <strong>by</strong> DeLemos are shown in<br />

Table 17.1. The results appear almost as if the admixture of<br />
