Study Report on Assessment <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Mode</strong>l e-<strong>district</strong>s<br />

G<strong>and</strong>hinagar, Dehgam, Kalol <strong>and</strong> Mansa through its employees for three years. The business model<br />

<strong>of</strong> the S<strong>of</strong>tware was on BOO basis.<br />

All the Service Providers’ employees were trained for the usage <strong>of</strong> the s<strong>of</strong>tware, the various<br />

government procedures, as well as the ‘karmyogi’ practices to interact with the citizens. The Jan<br />

Sewa Kendra, G<strong>and</strong>hinagar commenced its operations on October 16, 2006. The Taluk nodes at<br />

Mansa, Dehgam <strong>and</strong> Kalol were also further made operational in February 2007.<br />

The Jan Sewa Kendra, G<strong>and</strong>hinagar has approximately 3500 ft s <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice space with the following<br />

facilities:<br />

• Offices for the Deputy Mamlatdar <strong>and</strong> Service Supervisor<br />

• Server Room<br />

• Notice boards<br />

• Seating capacity for 35 persons<br />

• Help station managed by Senior Citizens<br />

2. <strong>Project</strong> Achievements<br />

Jan Sewa Kendra conducts weekend camps at remote villages for on-spot acceptance <strong>and</strong> delivery<br />

<strong>of</strong> applications. This initiative is performed with the support <strong>of</strong> the local sarpanch <strong>and</strong> a notary.<br />

The issues covered under this drive are mostly concerning ration cards. These initiatives save<br />

money <strong>and</strong> time <strong>of</strong> the villagers. During March <strong>and</strong> April there is a heavy rush <strong>of</strong> students for the<br />

different types <strong>of</strong> certificates. During these months the Jan Sewa Kendra at G<strong>and</strong>hinagar remains<br />

open 7 days a week.<br />

SMS Intimation<br />

The computer system automatically sends an SMS to the applicant on completion <strong>of</strong> the processing<br />

<strong>of</strong> his or her application<br />

SMS Query<br />

Applicants can know the status <strong>of</strong> their paperwork by sending an SMS to the Jan Sewa Kendra<br />

number. The system automatically responds with the status <strong>of</strong> the file. There is a need to increase<br />

customer awareness about this facility.<br />
