The system sends daily SMS to concerned <strong>of</strong>ficers to inform them about the activities during the<br />
day <strong>and</strong> the pendencies in various issues. SMS query by the <strong>of</strong>ficers is also supported.<br />
Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS)<br />
Applicants can call the automated phone line enter the 12 digit number <strong>of</strong> their application, <strong>and</strong><br />
check the status <strong>of</strong> their application. This has helped many applicants avoid cumbersome follow-up<br />
visits.<br />
Home Delivery<br />
The completed papers are home delivered by courier at a nominal fee <strong>of</strong> Rupees 5/- to<br />
G<strong>and</strong>hinagar city residents. Home delivery is also used in cases requiring address verification.<br />
Bar-coded Applications, Acknowledgements & Certificates<br />
Barcode is used from the issue <strong>of</strong> the form till the case is completed. At every stage, registry <strong>of</strong> a<br />
case is made using bar code scanner. Barcode scanning eliminates operator errors, increases speed,<br />
<strong>and</strong> helps to track the papers in process <strong>and</strong> helps identify papers archived.<br />
Computerized Token System<br />
The s<strong>of</strong>tware intelligently estimates the time for each counter, <strong>and</strong> automatically assigns the<br />
counter to the applicant having the least waiting time. No queues are formed in the process.<br />
Monitoring <strong>of</strong> paperwork by the Officers<br />
Officers have direct access to the database <strong>of</strong> the Jan Sewa Kendra <strong>and</strong> can review the status <strong>and</strong><br />
count <strong>of</strong> pending applications within their department. They can view the applications that are<br />
overdue <strong>and</strong> act on those accordingly.<br />
Weekly Meeting headed by the Collector<br />
The Collector holds a weekly meeting <strong>of</strong> all the deputy collectors, Mamlatdars <strong>and</strong> Jan Sewa<br />
Kendra <strong>of</strong>ficers. The issues <strong>of</strong> overdue cases are reviewed <strong>and</strong> resolved on spot. Feedback from<br />
people is also discussed. The collectorate has supported the initiatives <strong>of</strong> local ITIs to <strong>of</strong>fer special<br />
courses to prepare the work force for e-Governance.<br />
The Jan Sewa Kendra project has brought in a new outlook among the people towards government<br />
institutions. Some examples <strong>of</strong> the impacts on the public as well as on government employees are<br />
stated below:<br />
• Drastic change in the perception <strong>of</strong> the common man about a government <strong>of</strong>fice.<br />
