MonitorMagic The control center window is shown by default. To hide or show the window select main menu option View, Control center. The control center window shows a single line for each MonitorMagic service it is connected. If the connection to a MonitorMagic service fails, the image at the beginning of the line turns red. When you setup a connection with a MonitorMagic service, a new line is added to the window automatically. Actions From the Control center you can execute a number of actions. You can execute most of these actions for a single or multiple computers. To start, select one or more computers and right click the mouse. From the menu select one of the following options: Action Description Open Setup service... Configure service... Open or activates the monitor window of the selected computer. Install, upgrade or delete the MonitorMagic service from the selected computers. Configure the MonitorMagic service on the selected computer. The configuration includes, service access rights, license code, SMTP E-mail, custom keywords, client update, SNMP traps, pager-SMS and database configuration. See Configuring the MonitorMagic service for more information. Configure Configure the MonitorMagic WebService. See Configure MonitorMagic WebService... WebService_General for more information. Delete Delete the MonitorMagic service from the selected computers. service... Refresh Refresh the information of the selected connected computers. Note that the information can be refreshed only if the MonitorMagic client is connected to the MonitorMagic service. If for whatever reason no connection exist, MonitorMagic will try to setup the connection. If succeeded, the information is refreshed. Disconnect Disconnect from the MonitorMagic service and remove this entry from the window. 216
Using MonitorMagic Properties If a monitor window is open for the computer, it will be closed. Specify how the information in for the selected computer(s) must be updated: on request or automatically. Columns You can configure the columns that are shown in the window. To add a column to the window, right click on the header of a column where you want to insert the new column. From the popup menu you can select the following columns: Column Description name Computer The name of the computer on which the MonitorMagic service runs and to which the MonitorMagic client is connected. The computer name is shown as a NETBIOS name. Status The status of the connection with the MonitorMagic service. This can be either Connected, Not connected, Connecting... Database The type and status of the database used by the MonitorMagic service. Database type Database status Web config Domain License status The type of the database used by the MonitorMagic service. The status of the (connection with the) database used by the MonitorMagic service. A description of the MonitorMagic WebService. Example: HTTP:81 means that the HTTP is enabled on port 81. The NETBIOS domain name of the connected MonitorMagic service. The status of the license code used by the MonitorMagic service. License A description of the license code used by the MonitorMagic service. # Monitors The number of monitors maintained by the MonitorMagic service. # alarm monitors # report profiles # report computers # E-mail report Update time Update mode The number of monitors that are in an alarm state (rule broken). The number of report profiles maintained by the MonitorMagic service. The number of computer for which the MonitorMagic service collects report data. The number of reports for which E-mail distribution is configured. The last time the information described in the current line was updated The mode used to update the information for this line. This can be either On request: The information if updated when the line is selected and refreshed (F5) or Interval: The information is updated automatically, every Interval seconds. Delete Delete the column at the current position. column To sort on a column, simply click the column header.
