MonitorMagic From this window you can execute the following functions: Create Create a new database, to be used by one or more of the MonitorMagic services. To start creating a database press the Create button. Configure Configure the MonitorMagic service to use an existing database. Stop Instruct the MonitorMagic service to stop using the database. Note that when the MonitorMagic service is not using a database, it will not store the monitor data. On the computer running the MonitorMagic service, the ODBC database drivers must be installed in order for the MonitorMagic service to use the database. Before you can select the type of database, MonitorMagic will check the availability of the ODBC driver software installed on the computer. Press Next to find the types of supported ODBC database drivers. When the the computer running the MonitorMagic service does not support any ODBC driver, an error message is shown. In this case, you must install the ODBC driver software for the database of your choice. See Database - Supported databases for more information. MonitorMagic topics Database - Select the database type When creating the database, MonitorMagic automatically shows the types of database supported by the computer running the MonitorMagic service. The window contains the following fields: MS Access database Select this option if you want to create an MS Access database, to be used by the MonitorMagic service. SQL Server Select this option if you want to create an SQL Server database, to be used by the MonitorMagic service. ODBC database Select this option if you want to create an ODBC compliant database, to be used by the MonitorMagic service. If an option is grayed out, the MonitorMagic service did not find the ODBC drivers for the specific database. To continue creating the database, select the database type and press Next. You can select the location of the database file. If you want multiple MonitorMagic services to share the database, you should place the database file on a shared location (\\COMPUTER\Share\MonitorMagic.mdb). By default, MonitorMagic suggests to store the database file in the MonitorMagic service data directory. 307
